BANDLI WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
Bandli Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the state of Himachal Pradesh, about 7km away from the
Sunder Nagar village. Established in the year 1974, the sanctuary is one of the last habitats of the
Chir Pheasant in the country.

Forest type: Oak Forests, Himalayan Chir Pine Forests and Mixed Deciduous Forests.
Trees: Pine, Ban Oak, etc.
Fauna
Himalayan Black Bear, Barking Deer, Snow Leopard, Indian hare, Rhesus Macaque, Ghoral, Yellow-
Throated Marten, Python, Krait, etc.
Avian Fauna
Cheer Pheasant, jungle fowl, Himalayan griffon vultures, pea fowl, bulbul, etc.
Getting there
The closest bus terminal to Bandli Wildlife Sanctuary is at Mandi which is connected to Pandoh
through NH-21. The nearest airport is at Bhuntar, nearly 57 km from Mandi. The closest broad gauge
railhead is situated at a distance of about 210 km at Pathankot. From Pathankot the narrow gauge
railway links to Joginder Nagar, approximately 55 km away from Mandi.
Tourist Information
Accommodation options are available at Mandi where one can find different budgeted hotels and
resorts.
Trekking is quite popular among the tourists here. The visitors are advised to strictly adhere to the
forest rules and regulations. Making loud noise, carrying inflammable items, pets and driving after
sunset inside the sanctuary are strictly prohibited.
