BHAIRAMGARH WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

Bhairamgarh Wildlife Sanctuary is situated at Bhairamgarh in Chhattisgarh. The sanctuary serves as a buffer zone to the Indravati National Park. It was established in the year 1984.

Flora
Mixed deciduous forest, arid tropical riverine forest, teak forest and bamboo brakes.

Fauna
Important species: wild buffalo
Other species: leopards, chinkara, tigers, chital, hill hyenas, barking deer, striped hyena, sambar, sloth bear, Indian gazelle, etc.

Avian Fauna
Wood Peckers, Quails, Green Pigeons, Darters, Jungle Fowls, Peacocks, Stocks and others.

Getting there
The closest railhead is at Jagdalpur, about 155km away. From here one can also get buses, taxis and private vehicles to reach Bhairamgarh Wildlife Sanctuary by road. The nearest airport is about 486km away at Raipur.

Tourist Information The visitors can find accommodation at the rest houses inside the sanctuary. Many luxury and budget hotels and guest houses are also available near the sanctuary.
Trekking, bird watching and wildlife photography are popular tourist activities here. For any arrangement or queries tourists may contact the superintendent of sanctuary, stationed at Bastar. Visitors are requested to respect the space and privacy of the wild animals and not disturb them in any manner. Always keep safe distance from them. Visitors are advised to take care of their siblings and not leave them alone in the forest tracts. Carry your own food and water. Refrain from littering inside the forest. Always keep vigil during your forest expeditions and avoid using head phones.
