BIR SHIKARGARH WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
Established in the year 1975, Bir Shikargarh wildlife sanctuary is nestled along the river Kaushalya in the
lower ranges of Morni hills, in Haryana. It is located in the proximity of Pinjore.
Flora
Vegetation cover: dry deciduous mixed forest
Flora: Khair, Teak and Eucalyptus
Fauna
Leopard, chital, rhesus macaque, goral, muntjac, wild boar, mongoose, wild dog, porcupine, nilgai,
common langur, python, cobra, krait and others.
Avian Fauna
Red Jungle Fowl, Grey Partridge, Black Partridge and many others.
Getting there
The nearest airport and railway station are situated at Chandigarh. Bir Shikargarh wildlife sanctuary is
connected to major towns and cities of the country through well developed motorable roadways.
Tourist Information
An area of about 3km around the sanctuary has been declared an eco-sensitive zone. This limits the
manner of usage of land. Almost 50 villages, namely Burj, Kotian, Haripur, Tibbi, Chandimandir,Mallah
and others are included in this area.

Trekking, bird watching and nature trail are popular tourist activities in this forest. Always carry enough
water, guide maps, emergency light and emergency contact numbers while going for trekking. Wear
comfortable clothes that easily camouflage with the environment of the forest. Avoid wearing flashy
clothes and strong perfumes. Pets and inflammable items are not allowed inside the forest.
