Bornadi Wildlife Sanctuary
Bornadi Wildlife Sanctuary is nestled along the Himalayas foothills in Assam. The Bhutan border is
located in its north and the river Bornadi is situated towards its west. The sanctuary is named after
the Bornadi River. This protected reserve was established to preserve the declining populations of
Hispid Hare and Pigmy Hog of the area. The sanctuary is regarded as a perfect bhabar tract.

Flagship species: Pigmy Hog and Hispid Hare.
Other species: Gaur, Tiger, Elephant, Leopard, Capped Langur, Chinese Pangolin, Asiatic Elephant
Himalayan Black Bear, Wild Pig, etc.

Hornbill, Bengal florican, Swamp partridge, Kingfisher, Peacocks, Woodpecker, Peafowl, etc.
Getting there
The LGBI airport in Guwahati is the nearest airport, located around 150km away. Bornadi Wildlife
Sanctuary is well connected with Guwahati (about 130km) and Mangaldai (70km) through National
Highway No 52. It can also be approached from Tezpur (approximately 130km).
Tourist Information
Comfortable accommodation available at the Circuit Houses at Udalguri and Mangaldoi with prior
reservation with the Deputy Commissioners stationed at Udalguri and Darrang. Visitors also have
options to stay in Guwahati where there are different hotels and guest houses.
Visitors are requested to respect the privacy of the wildlife and not to harm or disturb their habitat
in any way. Wear comfortable clothes and strong gripping shoes as the topography of the area is
hilly and uneven. The famed Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park is situated about 140km away from
the sanctuary.
