Tourist Information
Almost the entire bird sanctuary is covered with mangrove swamps and is intersected with water channel networks. Hence, there are no staying, trekking or safari ride facilities for the tourists inside the sanctuary. The best way to explore the Dr Salim Ali sanctuary is through hired boats, which is allowed only during the high tides. However some creeks and canoes can be accessed even during low tides. A watch-tower has been put up in the sanctuary to enable the visitors to have a bird’s eye view of the sanctuary.

Permission has to be obtained from the Chief Wild Life Warden, Forest Department, Junta House, Panaji, for entering the reserve. Do not imitate birds’ call as it can annoy or disturb them. Tourists can also visit the Nature Interpretation Centre, situated at sanctuary’s entry point. For necessary information and resource material one has to contact the Range Forest Office, stationed at Campal, in Panaji, Goa
