JAWAHAR SAGAR WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

Jawahar Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary is situated close to the Jawahar Sagar Dam in the state of Rajasthan. It was established in the year 1975.

Flora
Vegetation type: Dry deciduous forest with patches of bamboo forest.
Major tree species: Jamun, Dhok, Bamboo, etc.

Fauna
Flagship species: Gavial, Leopard and Caracal.
Other Species: Chital, Sloth bear, Sambhar, Crocodile, Wild boar, etc.

How to reach
The nearest airport, railways station and bus terminal to Jawahar Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary is located at Kota, about 35 km away. Kota is well linked with different parts of Rajasthan with a good network of roadways. One can also choose to hire taxis or private vehicles from Kota to reach the sanctuary.

Tourist Information
Accommodation facilities within the sanctuary are very scanty. However, tourists can find different budget staying options at Kota. Bird watching, jeep safari, photography, nature trail and boating on the water of the Jawahar Sagar Dam are popular activities of the tourists here. Only vehicles that are not more than five years old are allowed inside the natural reserve. Guide services are available from the forest authorities. Always carefully follow the instructions of your guide and maintain safe distance from the wild animals during your safari rides.
Avoid coming to the sanctuary during the rainy season, as heavy rains and muddy paths can hinder your expeditions to the forest. Wear light cotton clothes during summer and light woolen clothes during winter. For any information, queries or arrangement the tourists can contact the Dy. Conservator of Forest, (Wildlife), stationed at Kota.
