Nagzira-Navegaon Tiger Reserve is spread across the Gondia and Bhandara districts of
Vidarbha in Maharashtra. It comprises of Navegaon National Park, New Nagzira Wildlife
Sanctuary, Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary, Koka Wildlife Sanctuary and Navegaon Wildlife
Sanctuary.

Flora
Forest type: Southern tropical dry deciduous forest
Plants: Mahua, teak, jamun, bhor, ain, kawat, bhel and haldu.
Fauna
Indian Gaur, Bengal tiger, Jungle cat, common leopard, sloth bear, spotted hyena, horned
antelope, panther, wolf, etc.
As per one recent unofficial report, there are about 5 to 7 tigers in Nagzira-Navegaon tiger
reserve.
Avian Fauna
Flycatchers, Woodpeckers, Shrikes, Cormorants, Barbets, Storks, Pitas, Hornbills, Herons and
Egrets.
Getting there
The nearest railway stations are at Deulgaon (2 km) Gondia (65 km) and Nagpur (122 km).
Closest airports are at Nagpur (about 120 km afar) and Gondia (for private carriers). The closest
bus terminal is at Navegaon (10 km away).
Tourist information
Forest cottages and suites are available within the Navegaon region of the reserve. Tree top
retreats, maintained by the MTDC, are available for the tourists. The visitors can also choose to
stay at the Youth Hostel or the Rest Houses at Gondia.
The Pitezhari gate is one of the important entrances to the reserve. The tourists can hire jeeps
or take their own vehicles for safari rides. The Nagzira Lake is an ideal place to spot birds and
wild animals. Bird watching and sailboat rides on the lake are the popular tourist activities here.
